A Front Tooth Cavity May Benefit From a Composite Dental Filling

Posted .

The teeth in the front of your mouth are very important to the function and appearance of your smile. They work to bite off food, and their appearance plays many roles in your facial expressions. If these teeth develop tooth decay, Dr. Alan L. Frame may be able to repair the teeth with composite dental fillings.

Having a cavity one of these teeth can result in discomfort, poor dental function, and a less-than-attractive smile. When tooth decay is detected early, our team can offer several recommendations to treat the condition. A small cavity may be repaired with a composite dental filling. These tooth-colored dental fillings are comprised of dental-grade plastic that is shaded to match the color of the surrounding tooth enamel so that the filling is indistinguishable from the rest of your smile.

Once our dentist has completed the shading and application of the dental composite, he uses a special ultraviolet light to “cure” (harden) the final filling and create a strong bond to the remaining tooth enamel. You can expect your dental filling to last for many years with regular brushing and flossing.

If you have noticed a cavity on a front tooth in your smile (or any tooth!), we encourage you to call 408-244-3562 for an appointment with our dentist. Our team at Alan L. Frame, D.D.S. is eager to care for your smile!
